Candy Spider

I've got a spider here that looks like it belongs on the end of a lolly-pop stick. I'm guessing it's orange flavored. Any arachnophiles out there who can identify this one? Or should I contact some candy makers?

Thanks for the link, Jessica.

That spider looks radioactive.

I'd run far away...and FAST!

It's not a perfect match to any of the ones in my admittedly not complete field guide to American creepy crawlies... do you know where it's from?

I'm not totally into spiders, but the coloration on that one is amazing! Very beautiful. Still, it had better stay away from me! ^^;;

I think it's root beer flavored.

I dreamt of this spider once and I woke up wondering what I'd eaten to have radioactive spiders crawl into my dreams.

I'm guessing butterscotch, but there's no way I'm going to lick it to find out.

It might be Araneus marmoreus - which is varied in coloring and has the same leg bands...

Mmm, butterscotch, delicious. And it has a chewy center, too!

I took the picture! that dude was on my front porch in Oglethorpe County Georgia! It surprised me but I love spiders so I just let it be. I think two days later, she hatched little babies and then died :-(

Sorry Jay cam you're not going to get much sympathy for not liking spiders around here. ;) Some of them are our favorites. :p

She does look like a shimmery piece of hard candy, doesn't she? She's gorgeous! I'm not well versed enough in my orb weavers to try to figure out the species. :D

I know this post was left a while ago, but I just came across it and thought I would try and help. I believe that this is a member of the "Marbled Spider" or "Spectacled Spider". They range in colour (yellow being another common colour) but are harmless. They are orb weavers and are said to be rather shy, and will only come out into the web when they have caught food.

Well, it's been over a year since anyone wrote about this spider but, i have 1 too. I searche spider that looks like candy and this is what I pulled up. I would sure like to know exactly what this spider is?? Very weird, I acutally thought a spider or something was moving a skittle candy across the garage floor. I am from Kokomo IN and found it on Oct 19, 2008,

I don't know exactly what it is, unfortunately, though I do wonder what it tastes like.
