Eighties Spider

What's worse than a massive spider as big as your hand that weaves webs at face level and masquerades about with the deceptively innocuous name of banana spider (Nephila clavipes)? The same spider, but with leg warmers.

I've looked this spider over, and I think I can just make out a Flock of Seagulls hair doo and pegged jeans. Maybe even a jean jacket. But it's hard to tell--spiders can be so good at camouflage.

Legwarmers...LMAO!

I think it is suffering from a parasitic fungus.

Yep... those are a bit to fuzzy to be anything but an infestation of some king.

The 80's thing is an uber-cute reference though. I'm saying this as someone who was unfortunate to be a teenager in the 80s. I'm so glad to be... NOW. XD

I'd see those spiders all the time building webs right by the windows of my grandfather's house in Florida. Obviously they're really common spiders there, but I never knew what they were called. They're also pretty non threatening as they have pretty obvious webs and don't seem to move very much at all. I just thought they were neat.
