Turtle Rescue

Two points to make on this video: 1) Hats off to those who took the time to whisk this softshell turtle off to safety (or the cook pot, for all we know...), and 2) this is why you keep your fingers away from these aquatic hunters.

Thanks for the video, Ida.

I like how they keep adding a new layer of security for the transport, like the turtle is made of some radioactive material. So awesome, haha.

...now if someone would just box up that dog yapping in the background... (only kidding, really I love dogs...mmm)

Could they not find a box big enough? That poor thing is stuffed into that little box. I hope they didn't have to move him far.

That turtle should be fine being transported in that set-up. It is great to see people who care enough to help the turtle get to water. Too often, people are happy to just run turtles over.

The trick to holding onto snappers is to grab them behind the head. That's the ONLY part they can't bend their neck to. Hasn't anyone watched Dirty Jobs? Incidentally, last summer a foot long common snapper tried to get into the back door of my office. My coworker and I wrangled it into a recycle bin and returned him to a pond down the street.

Aww, what was ugly about that turtle? I love turtles, and they are all awesome and beautiful in their own ways.
