Nancy sent in this photo of the Red Uakari, from the Amazon River basin. According to the good folks at National Geographic, these endangered primates possibly developed this red face to display their robust health. You see, animals infected with malaria typically have pale faces. It's a simple equation: red face = no malaria = open for business.
Again, I just can't account for monkey taste. They are supposedly such close cousins to us, but blue butts, swollen butts, large noses, red faces, and fangs tend to drive away our prospective mates, not make them swoon with delight. Don't leave out the habit of Feces "TOSSING" or "THROWING" though I suppose that may be attractive to those who actually eat the shit.
apes and monkeys eat or toss feces only in captivity, not in their natural environment, because they are bored and socially isolated.
somebody here must defend the monkeys :-)
Only in captivity? I suppose I might resort to that myself if kept in a compound my whole life.
