Viva Las Llamas!

Ivy sent me this lovely beast. My only notable encounter with a llama was on a backpacking expedition (well, a seven day trip at least). I was heading down some switchbacks in the Trinity Alps (N. Cal.) when I turned a bend in the trail and saw one of these standing in front of me. He was alone, though he still carried gear strapped to his back.

I assumed he was lost so I tried to grab his lead line to take him to his owners. He no likey. I almost got trampled. They have spookey eyes, especially when you know they don't like you.

Thanks for the photo, Ivy

  1. Awww, he's trying to smile for the camera!

It also looks like a bird pooed on his head.

  2. Is it strange that this picture reminds me of both Monty Python AND The Emperors new groove.

Llamas rock! Someday, when I have a wee patch of land I'm going to have a gaurd-llama. ;)

  3. Guard llamas are the thing of the future, my friends. Especially if they are former Incans emperors.

  4. Lol, I figure between a gaurd Llama and a donkey all my animals will be more than safe. Except the dogs because my families donkey totally wants to stomp the living crap out of the dogs. :D

  6. When I was a little kid a llama in a petting zoo stole my straw sun hat and ate it. It's teeth were terrifying and snaggled. My gran and myself found this hilarious, but poor mum wasn't impressed at all about the hat. Llamas still make me want to giggle uncontrollably, so thanks for that :)

  7. My sister was attacked by ostriches, also an iguana. she's not ugly herself, but kind of an ugly-magnet. Little to do with llamas, but I thought of it.

  8. It would be useful for me to be an ugly magnet, especially if I always carried a nice camera with me.
