Most Beautiful Goat Contest Held in Riyadh

Ever since I first posted on these curled-fist-in-a-sock goats, I've wondered what breed they are. Well, Rachel's done it. These goats are members of the illustrious Damascene breed, or Maaz Al Shami. I love the truncated face and the ears that look like they've grown inside a toilet paper roll.

What are all those Saudis doing in the background? They have gathered in Riyadh to participate in the Mazayen al-Maaz, the annual competition to crown this year's Most Beautiful Goat.

I wonder if could attend next year's event as a 'foreign correspondent.' Anyone out there with Saudi connections?

Thanks, Rachel

I think they must crop those goats ears. I can't imagine anyone ears growing in a natural box shape. But MAN, those goats need a nose job! Looks like someone did the bad 'Michael Jackson nose job' on them.

I guess the people that think these goats are beautiful are the same sort of folks that think that ultra type Persian cats are beautiful. I don't get it but whatever floats your boat, you know?

I was looking at that first picture wrong at I couldn't see the hind legs for some disturbing, very long seeming seconds there. That dewlap thing kept looking like two arms, and I couldn't help but think of the baby in Eraserhead (this, for those who dare/would like to remember fondly that thing).

That last one looks sorta like Watto for Star Wars Ep. I. lol
