Ugly Bat Boy the Cat

Exeter, NH, has a new favorite icon. Exeter might become the first city to be adopted by Ugly Overload.

Behold Ugly Bat Boy:

The cat's full name is Ugly Bat Boy. He's bald in most places except for flowing fur on his chest, and he spends his days on a warm computer at Exeter Veterinary Hospital, reported WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H. Bat Boy has become something of a local star.

People come in and take pictures of him on their cell phones," said veterinary employee Christie Hartnett. "He's just great. He's Dr. (Stephen) Bassett's little wonder cat."

For more details, read this article. There isn't anything wrong with him. He's just ugly.

Thanks, Summer, Kat, Ida, and Clair.

Enjoy the video, put to the theme from Carmina Burana.

  3. I meant to forward you this story. He looks like a pretty content cat, so it's a happy story.

Is it true that he's part Sphynx or is this just a one-off variation?

  5. Agreed on the mythical beast! Although I think his mane looks a bit dingy. Couldn't someone give him a shampoo shine? Of course, I don't know how well hairless cats put up with bathing, I bet it feels even freakier to them than furry cats. Though they'd dry faster...

  6. Yeah, right. And people are always saying that your monitors are completely harmless!
I will be wearing full body tinfoil at the computer from now on.

Poor tyke, I think he is a cutie. I wish they had given him a better name though, like Pluto(nium).

  7. I'm soooooooooo loving the music and effects. I, too, meant to forward this to you Mr. Wombat. He's a fab cat, though, isn't he?

  8. @ Theodosia- If the people who commented on the article are to be believed, he's a Donskoy, a breed I've sure never heard of (not that I know every breed). Apparently they're usually either completely naked or completely furred, but "manes" happen every now and then.

Unfortunately, wikipedia has failed me as far as Bat Boy goes, and I've had to go to less trustworthy sites.
