I never thought caterpillars could look scheming, but these guys pull it off, with their hunched shoulders and clicking their feet together.
They're planning something diabolical, and I don't know if I care to be around when they do. Most likely, however, their plans don't extend beyond the leaf upon which they are dining.

I can totally see these caterpillars saying "Excellent" in a Mr. Burns voice and doing the 'creepy finger thing'. As a kid, I was never sure if I should be scared or facinated at them. So I compromised: They were awesome until one touched me... then they were after my soul.

Is Number 2 a lovely smiley ( you've found the only serious-looking one) puss moth caterpillar or relative? I used to keep them as a kid. Happy faces, curly tails and two little spikes they would use to catapault their poo into the distance. I still look out for them every time I pass apoplar tree.

ReplyDeleteYou know the green one is truly evil, because it's got that smile..
