Remember what I said a few days ago about fish being so aptly named? Here is some more proof. Both Dave and J. Carr sent me this New York Times link on deep sea fish.
Guess what the first one is called? Yup, Dumbo Octopus (but his face reminds me a Star Wars Character. How about the second fish? Yup, Fan Fin Seadevil.
Thanks you two. The ocean just got a bit uglier.

I want that second one for my tank! :)
I think the dumbo octopus is cute... but I have a thing for cephalopods.
Is it just me or does Dumbo look like he is wearing shoes?
I believe the star wars character is Admiral Akbar see

Yes, Admiral Akbar. I even have the figurine at home. I'm disappointed that I forgot.
OMG!
I'm away for a few days and I almost miss your posting of a DUMBO octo?! I've never sent one in because I think they are so dern CUTE. Seriously, I have some pictures that just make you want to nibble on those fins. ;)
Arachnophile, eek!
You should try looking up the vampire squid.
The Vampyroteuthis infernalis is one of the coolest deep ocean creatures out there.
