Oh, that'd be a mole cricket. Lovely lil' buggers aren't they? ;)
Here's the wiki link:

And U of Florida provides this one with all sorts of tips on control of these guys but try to avoid the pestisides eh, Wombat. ;) :p Looks like there's a lot of biological control options.

And they fly!!!!
Aww, gee, Wombat, he only wants to be your friend! How can you resist those big brown eyes?!
Yeah, actually I do find them kinda cute Kritter, as I do most inverts but primates fill my soul with DREAD. ;)
There's actually a mole crabs who has that same hunched w/ big digging claws look. It's an interesting look at convergent evolution.
Did I spell that right? *shrug*
Ack! I was beaten to the punch. :)
Arachnophile is right.
Ok, so like Denita TD with parasites and Arachnophile with primates, insects with a large crunch potential and/or lots of waving legs or antennae send me through the roof. Just looking at this guy makes a high screech start in the back of my throat. And this person is actually HOLDING it! With his fingers!!! AHHHHHH!!!!
LOL - You are the king of spider IDs Jade. As much as I love them, I've not spent enough time examining those discerning characteristics that make all the difference
Cool! Evolutionary mashups! I wonder what a cricket mole would look like...
To Bats :[ -- A giant furry creature that manages to wander into my house while I'm not looking, and aggravate me by chirping under my bed...? ;-)
(And then ends up falling victim to my three playful cats...?)

yuk, it looks like a flea on anabolics...
Definitely what they call a 'mole cricket'. Those mole-like claws of theirs can feel like a mild bite when they're trying to dig their way out of your hand, but as far as I know they're harmless. To people, anyway. Deadly to flower beds, I think.
