For All you Mantis-o-philes

I know there are a lot of mantid lovers out there (Arachnophile comes to mind), and I thought you might appreciate the scrappiness of this specimen. I'd still place my bet on the dog (not that I condone insect/canine fighting...) but there is something inspiring in this photo.

  3. *sigh* When WILL these blood-sports end? ;)

I DO love this picture. The mantis is all, "Bring it!" I hope it ended well. I'm trying to guess at the size of the mantis but the perspective is difficult.

    Awsome pic though.

  4. He'll do this judo thing, and fling the dog around. Or, maybe mantises make "jazz hands" a lot.

Rofl... I'm not an insect person but that mantis is UBER cute standing up to that dog.
    How hilarious.

I've only ever seen one mantis. We were coming out of a Deny's and suddenlly I notice a HUGE mantis.. I mean this sucker came to almost my knee... just chilling out in the little walkway.
We told some of the employees about it and they moved it outside :P

I think the dog is seriously freaked out by the bug. Dog was probably wondering what the mantis was doing, the mantis whipped out some Ninjitsu skills and the dog freaked out.

    That is my story.

  8. lol - my dog would do this too. She'd be all like, "gonna eat that!" And then, when if it didn't run away she'd freak.

It is actually a very inspiring photo.

Never give up even when the situation seems impossible. You never know what will happen!

  10. If Pokémon teaches me anything about the real world (and it does!), the mantis is going to win easily. GO SCYTHER! ;)
