I was floating on my inflatable raft with my diving mask and goggles, looking at the world underwater.

There was a driftwood log down on the lake bottom. But then suddenly the log lifted up, and swam away. It was actually a giant sturgeon!

These are pretty cool creatures, and I think responsible for sightings of what they call "The Flathead Lake Monster." One of them actually jumped out of the water, scaring a water skiier.

End of long story.Jack Ruttanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11202365155540203592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20146619.post-45786643130304041452008-01-02T14:50:00.000-08:002008-01-02T14:50:00.000-08:00This guy could problably suck down a duckling but ...This guy could problably suck down a duckling but I think the bird is safe.

I have to learn more about these Anguilla. I don't know much about eels, but they always have mean faces!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20146619.post-81558573631068758612008-01-01T03:43:00.000-08:002008-01-01T03:43:00.000-08:00I concur. They differ from moray eels in that they have pectoral fins and flatter faces, and some species can survive in fresh water. I think they're cute; just look at the googly fish eyes--not that you can see them all that well in this picture.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01410867729231293729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20146619.post-81679320424225895732007-12-31T22:19:00.000-08:002007-12-31T22:19:00.000-08:00http://www.flickr.com/photos/chi-liu/212811828/Lon...http://www.flickr.com/photos/chi-liu/212811828/

Longfinned Eel, Anguilla reinhardtii

ADORABLE.Tenguhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10601770868815753656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20146619.post-28697030445895740302007-12-31T17:53:00.000-08:002007-12-31T17:53:00.000-08:00I don't know what it is.I just know that it scares...I don't know what it is.

I just know that it scares me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
